Flood Monitoring
Rising water levels don't wait for office hours. Whether it's a major flood event or the regular smaller incidents that threaten roads, bridges and communities, you need reliable real-time data to make fast decisions. Datacell's flood monitoring systems deliver continuous level measurement and instant SMS alerts direct to your phone, putting you in control before situations escalate.
Know what's happening, as it happens
Flooding events unfold quickly. By the time staff can physically inspect a site, conditions may have already changed or become dangerous. Our remote monitoring removes the guesswork and the risk.
Datacell units measure water levels continuously using ultrasonic or pressure sensors, transmitting data on schedule and immediately when thresholds are breached. You can receive SMS and email alerts and can view current and historical data through the DataScape portal on any device.
This means you can answer critical questions instantly: Is the road safe to open? Are residents at risk? Where should emergency crews be deployed? What's the trend over the next few hours?
Applications
Our flood monitoring systems are deployed across Australia for:
- River and creek level monitoring
- Stormwater drain and culvert overflow detection
- Low-lying road and causeway monitoring
- Bridge clearance and scour risk assessment
- Levee and flood barrier monitoring
- Urban flood-prone area early warning
- Dam spillway and retention basin levels
How it works
The Datacell unit is installed at your site with an appropriate level sensor — typically ultrasonic for open channels or a submersible pressure transducer for wells and confined spaces. The unit measures continuously and stores readings locally.
Data is transmitted via the cellular network to DataScape on your chosen schedule. When water rises past your configured alarm threshold, an alert is sent immediately via SMS and email. You can set multiple thresholds for staged responses — advisory, warning and critical levels.
The DataScape portal displays current readings, historical trends and alarm status. Data can be exported for reporting or integration with your existing systems.
Benefits
Continuous visibility means faster response. You'll know about rising water before it becomes a problem, giving you time to close roads, alert residents or position emergency services.
Remote monitoring eliminates routine inspection trips to remote or hazardous locations. Staff aren't sent to check sites in dangerous conditions — the data comes to them.
Long-term records support better planning. Historical data reveals patterns, helps size infrastructure correctly and provides evidence for funding applications and compliance reporting.
Reduced liability through documented response. Timestamped alerts and data logs demonstrate that you were informed and acted appropriately.
Reliable in the field
Datacell units are designed for Australian conditions. Solar powered with battery backup, they operate independently for extended periods. Robust enclosures protect against weather, dust and vandalism. Cellular connectivity via the 4G network means coverage across most regional areas, with options for satellite in remote locations.
Australian designed and manufactured, with local support when you need it.
